Management of spontaneously regenerated mixed stands of birch and Norway spruce in Sweden

چکیده

Timber production and profitability were evaluated for spontaneously-regenerated mixtures on two formerly clearcut areas. The abandoned areas developed into birch-dominated ( Roth Ehrh.) stands with successional ingrowth of Norway spruce (L.) H. Karst.). An experiment randomized treatments within blocks was established, using three management strategies one unthinned control, resulting in variation optimal rotation age, merchantable volume species composition. based total (volume) by measured growth data 42 years after clearcutting the modelled future stand development. long-term effects spontaneous regeneration land expectation value (LEV) compared a fifth strategy artificial intense thinnings. 12 treatment, at age years, control had produced highest stem volume. At interest rates 2% or higher, unmanaged forest an economically viable strategy, even to intensive preferred timber species. Interest clearly impacted different strategies. This study shows that when is successful dense, first competition release can have high impact development crop trees mixture.Betula pendulaBetula pubescensPicea abies

Nutrient Dynamics and Decomposition rate of Norway Spruce Needles in Stråsan and Lajim stands

Climate changes due to changes in a habitat leads to differences in the rate of decomposition and nutrient dynamics of leaflitters, which has many effects on the controlling factors of the decomposition process. In the present study, the rate of decomposition and nutrient dynamics of Norway spruce was evaluated for 363 days in the two forestation sites in the natural and foreign habitats, ...

Dissolved organic carbon and nitrogen leaching from Scots pine, Norway spruce and silver birch stands in southern Sweden

The effects of three common tree species – Scots pine, Norway spruce and silver birch – on leaching of dissolved organic carbon and dissolved nitrogen were studied in an experimental forest with podzolised soils in southern Sweden. We analyzed soil water collected with lysimeters and modeled water fluxes to estimate dissolved C and N fluxes. Specific UV absorbance (SUVA) was analyzed to get inf...

Estimating tree mortality of Norway spruce stands with neural networks

Within forest growth modeling LOGIT models are used to predict individual tree mortality. In this paper we present, Multi-Layer Perceptron, Learning Vector Quantization and Cascade Correlation networks as different formalisms for mortality predictions. The data set for parameterizing the LOGIT model and training the different neural network types comes from the Austrian National Forest Inventor...

Evaluation of urban management and political Scandinavian economy (case study: Sweden and Norway)

Study on international political economy of two countries, Sweden and Norway, in international interactions allows us to examine political economy of these two countries as the case study for further understanding of macro patterns of international political economy.  Thus, understanding the power of influence of international developments in two economic and political areas in internal relatio...
